Post-Game Analysis

Hi Everybody!
I didn't know if there was wi-fi access at the hospital and I wasn't inclined to trust the security if they did, so I left the computer at home.  Now, here's the big update:

  • Cece went into surgery at 7:42 am this morning, and the doctor came out top talk to us at about 9:30 am.  Went a touch faster than predicted, but not too fast.
  • He said the procedure went very well.  no big surprises, no unexpected complications.  Cancer was small; Good sign.  Removed uterus, fallopian tubes, ovaries and some lymph nodes.  Pretty much as advertised.
  • They gave Cece a pregnancy test (!?), then had her sign not one, but TWO forms acknowledging that she understood that after this surgery she can't have any more children.  Two forms.
  • Finally saw her again about three hours after surgery.  She looked tired and a bit wrung out, but I guess that's how you feel after sleeping for a couple of hours, not really eating, and having a machine pull some internal organs out.  Still, all things considered, she feels good, wants to come home.
  • The staff at Carolinas Medical Center ia taking great care of her.  I still don't recommend the procedure if you don't need it, but the staff is great.
I also want to thank the folks (you know who you are) who left stuff in the cooler on the back porch.  Much appreciated!  Now, I'm signing off.  I've been up since 3:30 am and this train's heading for the cliff.  Thanks again, and keep praying.
